CHOIR
CPCE
The Coro de Pequenos Cantores de Esposende was created at the end of 2009, as a result of a partnership between the Municipality of Esposende and the Escola de Música de Esposende.
Since then, the CPCE has performed in several places in the north of Portugal, such as several parishes in Esposende, Church of S. Vitor in Braga, Cathedral of Braga, Church of Cedofeita in Porto, Igreja da Misericórdia in Guimarães, Lapa Church in Porto, Calouste Gulbenkian Music Conservatory Auditorium, Theatro Circo and Braga Exhibition Park, Belém Cultural Center and Casa da Música in Porto.
The CPCE has in its history several works dedicated to the choir itself. By Fernando Lapa, “Magnificat”; by Sérgio Azevedo, “Romance of the Hunter and the Princess”; by Paulo Bastos, “Três Canções de Natal”; by Osvaldo Fernandes (composer in residence) – “Fantasia around a poem”, “Missa brevis”, “Mudam-se os Tempos” Cycle, “Portuguese Christmas”, “It’s Christmas Time”, “Passion according to S. João ” (for SSA choir, brass decatet, organ, percussion and soloists).
The CPCE intends to be a source of training for musicians of the future and, at the same time, for the public of the present. In this way, it intends to promote the contemporary national production of works dedicated to the Pueri Cantores sound environment.

ARS VOCALIS
The choir Ars Vocalis works in junior choir training, intending to develop this concept in Portuguese choir practice with a school and training perspective.
Ars Vocalis was founded in 2009 with a group of 10-year-old children, students at the Esposende Music School (EME) under the Articulated Music Teaching Regime. This is a project of the identity of EME and its Educational Project, being the most direct consequence of the training developed in the Coro de Pequenos Cantores de Esposende (CPCE). The two projects are closely related as, in the future, the CPCE elements will be transferred to Ars Vocalis.
The work developed in terms of the repertoire is suited to the timbre and vocal characteristics of the choristers, respecting the phase of vocal transition in which they are located. However, it seeks to discover the great composers, the stimulus to contemporary composition and the mixture of different sounds, united by the choral language.
